Valorization and literacy program for young people in correctional facilities

The goals

We believe that every child and youth in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) should have access to a quality education that will give them the opportunity to achieve their dreams and participate in the development of the country.

Our mission is to give the opportunity to young people aged 13 to 18 years in prison to (re)gain confidence by learning how to read and write and participate in workshops on self-esteem and life skills.

Two partners support us in this task: the Makala penitentiary and La Borne church.

The latest news

The first session of this program was carried out during the last quarter of 2016 and allowed 31 young people from the Makala penitentiary in Kinshasa to graduate from our program. We got to organize two more sessions in 2017 / 2018 but our program was then interrupted due to the COVID pandemic. We are currently waiting for new approvals to be able to restart the program.
